Spending and Being Spent

In expressing love for others, it is inevitable to spend and be spent both literally and figuratively.
Money, time and emotions are the top things spent when loving those whom God loves, specially in the way He wants His people to.

Money. Fare, gas, snacks for His people, just to name a few. Genuine people of God who desire to win souls and to keep those who are already in don’t mind spending them, if for the celebrations in heaven (over a sinner who repents).

Time. Every single moment of stepping out and doing what God wants, in terms of sharing His Word to others is almost synonimous to less time spent for family and friends, me time, or at times, work or school. Yet because God goes with His people, none of these should stop a servant of God from serving Him in His terms. One would gladly change his/her entire schedule to accomodate His agenda. If it means moving original plans or completely not doing it, so be it. After all, HIS AGENDA is His servant’s and children’s prosperity, protection, hope and future (Jeremiah 29:11).

Emotions. Not all whom God’s servants give love to (whether publicly or privately), would give it back. Some of them would even go beyond not appreciating his/her sacrifices but would see it as incomplete. Yet, genuine servants of God just continue loving. It is not about them loving them back. It was, has been and will always be about the love that the Lord bestowed. John 4:19 says, “We love Him because He first loved us.”‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬) As recipients of His love, “And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.” ‭‭I John‬ ‭4:21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Spending and being spent will not stop a genuine child of God from serving Him.
